Amy Winehouse - Frank
Written by Nicholas Jennings    PDF Print E-mail

Amy Winehouse - FrankThis new British soul sensation writes and sings sultry, jazzy numbers with a hint of hip-hop. Unlike Joss Stone, there’s no innocence in Winehouse, who performs what the U.K. press calls “flirty, dirty” songs on her streetwise debut album, including the satirical “Fuck Me Pumps” and the horny “Amy Amy Amy.” But Winehouse, 19, also delivers convincing Sinatra-style heartbreak on “Take the Box” and “You Sent Me Flying” and her playful scat singing channels the late, great Sarah Vaughan. One to watch in 2004.
