Jordin Sparks - Battlefield
American Idol has produced many pop hopefuls, but only a few genuine talents of Kelly Clarkson’s caliber. Jordin, 2007’s winning contestant, possesses plenty of pop savvy and no shortage of ambition. The 19-year-old’s sophomore album borrows liberally from Kelly, Beyoncé and even Lady Gaga on songs like “Let it Rain,” the title track and the club thumping “S.O.S. (Let the Music Play).” More promisingly, Jordin co-wrote four numbers here, the best of which—hands down—is the inspirational anthem “Faith.”
